Sept TVH-anesthesia questions

I am considering whether to have general anesthesia or spinal/regional anesthesia with conscious sedation. I will be having a TVH and likely a bladder sling. In weighing the pros and cons I am undecided. What are your experiences?

I had an epidural and general anesthetic, and I had a positive experience. My anesthesiologist doc recommended it. She said I would wake up quicker with it. I liked that.

Also, they could administer pain meds directly into the tubing. That also helped.

I've always general anesthesia for any surgery, including this one, so that's my pick! I had the same as you, except my bladder was repositioned without a sling or mesh. I've never had any problems with the anesthesia and I prefer knowing I'm totally out in case something unforseen arises.

I had the same thing as Marestail. The doc said the spinal helps with post op pain. I didn't have any negative side effects at all.

I had the same question pre-op. I decided on general instead of spinal and have not regretted it. There was no nausea, no pain after recovery. Glad I did it.
