1yr post lap vaginal hysterectomy: Constant Abdominal/Pelvic Pain for the past 3 weeks, HELP!!

I need help. I'm not even quite sure what my problem is, but I thought I would check in to see if anyone else has experienced this.
-30 y.o.
-Had LAVH Jan 2013 (emergency surgery following day for post-op bleeding)
-BSO Sept 2013 due to continuing pain/endometriosis
-I've been on birth control for hormones (MonoNessa) plus EstraTest.
For about the past 3 weeks, I've had constant lower abdominal pain and lower back pain. UA and urine cultures have been negative for UTI. Bloodwork has shown an elevated sed rate and C Reactive Protein (levels have gone down from blood work repeated last week, but they're still slightly elevated). (Also negative for Lupus & Rheumatoid Arthritis) Saw my GYN for my annual (have to do a Pap since after my hysterectomy, pathology came back with moderate cervical dysplasia - although I've never had an abnormal pap). Pap was normal, GYN suggested to see a urologist. I am scheduled for a cystoscopy next Wednesday (even though I'm not having any urgency, frequency, etc). General Surgeon thinks possible IBS, and has increased fiber intake, plus written me for Bentyl 10mg 4x a day). I've been doing that for 2 days so far with no improvement.
The pain worsens with everyday activities. I'm worn out by the end of the day.
Ugh, and sex? It's uncomfortable and my pain is so much worse the the following day.
Does anyone have any similar experiences? Suggestions on what to do?
Sorry for the lengthy post. Thanks for listening.

jreading, I wish that I had answers for you but unfortunately I don't. It's good that you seeing an Urologist next week. See what the outcome if that visit is and then go from there.

I know that it can be frustrating when you know there's something going on but can't get any answers as to what the issue is, but keep trying. Get a second or third or how many it takes to get the answers that you need.

in there sweetie. Prayerfully you'll get some answers soon.

What exactly does the pain feel like? Stabbing, achy, sore like some one hit you? Does massaging help?? It could possibly be caused by muscles or fascia. This has been my problem forever. Myofascial pain syndrome.

Have you seen a Rheumatologist? You could still have some kind of auto immune disease even if you test negative for the RA factor. I know from personal experience in my family that this was the case and it took a while to have her diagnosed because her blood work showed negative for the RA factor. The final diagnosis was Seronegative Arthritis which falls under the umbrella of RA. Treatment is the same as RA. By the way, info on the web is all over the place when it comes to Seronegative Arthritis. A rheumatologist is the best place for info on this disease.

Re: 1yr post lap vaginal hysterectomy: Constant Abdominal/Pelvic Pain for the past 3 weeks, HELP!!

I apologize - I somehow missed the additional posts!
Cinl11, the pain is more "ache-y", with some occasional spasms (the pain would occasionally be similar to Braxton-Hicks contraction pains that I experienced during pregnancy)
Danni3ll3, I have not seen a Rheum yet. I had my appt with my new PCP today & I'm scheduled for a pelvic/abdominal CT (with & without contrast) Wednesday morning. I also will have my cystoscopy that same day, that afternoon.
The pain is just frustrating! I've been taking hydrocodone as needed for the pain. It takes the edge off, but nothing so far completely alleviates the pain.

Hi,
I am in a similar situation to you. I had a LAVH/BSO back in 2011, and within 6 months started having "cramping". I went to DR's who decided it must be bc I wasn't getting enough E. I have had multiple tests, including a cat scan with contrast (barium is yuck!), and no answers so far. My Dr. actually just referred me out to a reproductive endocrinologist (bc he thinks my pain and issues are hormone related). I am hopeful, but not too hopeful, that the new doc will have some answers. I have been fearful, and pretty much convinced that it is either return of endo, or scar tissue. Either way, no confirmation diagnosis without surgery, and I haven't been up for that. Anyway, just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

Merr - I'm so sorry to hear you're having issues as well! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrows procedures show SOMETHING, but I'm not convinced they will. I sure hope the pain isn't endo, but knowing my luck...who knows! I had problems with adhesions in the past, and I know after my last surgery, my GYN tried precautionary measures to help prevent more. My husband is also in the medical field (I'm an RN myself) and with him talked to all of the surgeons and other docs (he works in surgery) they are all determined that its Irritable or Inflammatory Bowel. I'm not convinced on that either, because nothing dietary seems to make the pain better/worse, just activity does. Boo! Just hoping for some answers soon. Hopefully you're able to get some answers soon too, Merr! (hugs)
