home alone

Have not been alone since surgery 12/12. Will be on Monday when DH and children return to work. A little nervous but know I will be fine. DH waits on me hand and foot, such a sweetie, even after 29 years and 4 children. Could be why I'm nervous, not sure if ready to be alone. Have been up walking, getting up and down out of chair still hard. Any advice?

You should be fine. At this point, all I wanted to do was read, watch tv and sleep. I took my meds every 4 hours to ward off pain. Just make sure you have small meals you can warm in the microwave or sandwich stuff you get can make yourself. Don't try anything crazy like climbing in a chair to change a lightbulb. No heavy lifting. Otherwise you will be fine.

No Sweat-you will be great-enjoy some peace and quiet and spend time with the Lord! Just avoid the heavy work stuff.

as long as you feel able to do the basics, get to the bathroom, get to the kitchen..just for water and to heat something up! you should be okay. if you aren't comfortable being alone maybe a friend can come visit? or maybe check in by phone? my situation is different, i live alone and after having my mom and friends hover over me for a week i was ready to be alone!! oh, i also made sure that i had a phone within reach so if i felt like answering, it wasn't a struggle to get to it or if there was an emergency help would just be a call away!

I wasn't alone until week 2, but really enjoyed the quiet and solitude. It was hard not to do laundry, but I got over it! I made sure to have anything I would need within arm's reach (house phone, cell phone, sudoku book, water and meds, pillows, newspaper). Remember to use your arms to get you up and down, take little walks and pamper yourself! Good luck!
