Getting Accurate Results

I knew that whatever my doctor would tell me in the recovery room, I would probably forget what she said or be confused by the info several hours later due to the effects of general anesthesia. So before my surgery, I asked my doctor to please WRITE DOWN her findings and leave it by my bedside. I found I had to re-read those findings on several different occasions in the hours following the surgery until my head was truly clear and it truly registered. But having it in writing was great - it was accurate and not misinterpreted by me or by a caretaker. (She wrote her findings along with captioned photos from the op). Thankfully the news was good, but even if it hadn't been, I'm the type of person who wants to know either way. Also, when your head is clear enough to absorb the info, your doctor may not be around and the nurses won't tell you anything, so having the info so accessible when I wanted it was really great.
