4 days post hysterectomy - can't sleep

It just started last night but when I am dozing off my body feels as if I'm going to pass out .I sleep for what I think is hours and get jolted awake only to find out its been 10 min. To make matters worse I am having I guess is a hot flash or something ?I feel like my back and arms are on fire but they are hot to me but cold to touch for someone else .Could this all be side effects from morphine iv ? Any one experiencing similar symptoms please respond to let me know I am not crazy ...

4 days post hysterectomy - can't sleep

I experienced the exact same thing in the hospital, except the burning was in my legs. I think it was the IV pain meds because I haven't experienced it since I have been home. Hope you feel well soon. Hang in there. I am on day 22. Every day gets better and easier. Hugs! 😊

Re: 4 days post hysterectomy - can't sleep

Hi Tracie,

I hope you can get some good info about what you are experiencing. I have not had the burning in the arms and legs, but I break out in a sweat. Sometimes I feel like maybe I have a fever because my head and face feels like it is boiling up like boiling water. It is hard to distinguish if it is hot flashes or am I starting with a fever, especially since I do have a wound infection. I don't know how to tell the difference.

So I understand your feelings too. Sometimes you do start to wonder if you are going a bit nuts eh? I don't think we are and I think your symptoms are perfectly legit and true. I think that we have had such a huge surgery that our bodies are trying to adjust to the sudden physiological changes and perhaps flings of weird feelings hit us here there and everywhere. This is all I can think of, but really, I would encourage you to call the doctor's office and just ask the Nurse. That is what they are there for, okay.

Cheers and hugs,
Your fellow hystersister,
AnnieBL
