Felt awful for years...

Hello Everyone!!

I am new to the site...found it while browsing for info on hysts. I have read the postings every day for more info on what to expect...what a great site!! I just found out last Friday that I'm having a TAH on April 8th due to Complex Hyperplasia Atypia. I am pretty nervous because I'm hoping that the hyst makes me feel better instead of worse!! I have not had pelvic pain -- just long, long periods, bad pms, leg pain, major bloating and not much of a desire to do anything. I was on the pill for 12 years and felt pretty good -- I went off the pill 4 years ago and that's when the trouble started. I gained about 50 pounds and was diagnosed with PCOS and sent to an endocrinologist. I've been on therapy with Avandia, a diabetes drug, to help regulate my hormones and help with the insulin resistance. I started to have a period on my own after about 6 months on the meds and they would last about 2-3 weeks leaving me with about one good week a month!! Lately I just feel so bloated and tired all the time. My dr offered to put me on hormone therapy instead of having the hyst, mostly because I'm 34 and have no children. He said the hormones would make me bloated, irritable, headachey...and I wondered how that would be any different from how I feel now??? lol I would also have to continue to have a biopsy done every few months -- and once was quite enough!! So, I opted for the hyst. Anyone who has had a similar experience...please let me know -- thanks!!

Hi

I don't have the same things that you have but I had at least 10 years of intense pain and bleeding so I had my hyst. 10 years too late but better late than never. I have one DS who is 20 and so of course being 51 I would not have had anymore children. So if you have discussed this with your DR and are satisfied with the decision then you have exhausted all your other options. God bless and keep us posted.
