Anxiety?

I'm 2 Weeks post op and have had very little problems but tonight I'm feeling very anxious. It kind of came on all of a sudden. Granted I have had a semi stressful day. I found out my daughter's best friend, who is like a son to me, had an abnormal biopsy so his dr is referring him to a cancer specialist. He asked me not to say anything to my daughter so I said I wouldn't. He's been talking to me all day, upset. My dad's retirement party is tomorrow and that'll be my first outing. I'm a little worried about that being too much. We have relatives coming in from out of town. My house is a mess. My kids (18 &15) have been helping but they're actually sick. I made a list of things that need to be done so hopefully we can get things in order. I guess I'm somewhat overwhelmed today, no wonder I feel anxious lol. I decided to lay down and see if I feel better soon, I'm already feeling a little better. In addition to my busy day I don't feel like I've rested enough. Thanks for listening to me complain. :-)

Re: Anxiety?

Sounds like you have a lot going on. I found that I did have a little anxiety in the first 2 weeks and I didn't have as much going on as you. Don't know what caused it, guess the fact that we had major surgery is enough . Be sure to rest, rest, rest and breathe. Try not to overdue it, im sure everyone understands that you just had surgery and you're not expected to be Mary Poppins. Find something that relaxes you when you start to feel overwhelmed; listening to calming music helped me a little.

Good luck with everything and happy healing!

Re: Anxiety?

Thank you. I had some anxiety due to thyroid issues (recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in January) and anemia which led to the discovery of my fibroids and surgery. I haven't had any issues until today. I feel much better since laying down and relaxing. I found it helpful to play Candy Crush on my phone before when I felt anxious. lol It sounds silly but when my mind was busy it would go away.
