Getting a little nervous about returning to work after hysterectomy

I am starting to get a little nervous. My total hysterectomy with the divince was May 22 . I am 11 out and all I can think about is my going back to work on June 18. I am so worried I am not going to be able to do it. Today was my first outing by myself to Wal-Mart. I was exhausted when I came home. My Dr did not put any restrictions on me except for having relations with my husband. Thank goodness for this site. I just hope I can make it. Any good recoveries at 4 weeks and back to work in that time frame? Thanks...

Re: Getting a little nervous.

It might be too soon for you to go back. My doctor:new is sticking to 6 weeks out of work...and he wont budge. Can you take off longer? Your body might not be ready.

No that's all the time I have. No short term disability. I have to use my time. I also work third shift. Ugh... hope I will make it..

Hi! I had a Da Vinci total hysterectomy and am almost 13 weeks post op. I was cleared at 4 weeks to return to work and like you got nervous as well. I had everything removed vaginally and have a cuff. At about 3 weeks I felt that I had energy and went to the grocery store and by the time I got home had to lay down and nap. I did fine back at work at 4 weeks but being very tired hit me on the 3rd day back. That being said, just listen to your body. It will let you know when you need to rest more. I am almost at 13 weeks and still a little tired but recovering well. Happy healing to you and I hope you have a smooth recovery!!

Re: Getting a little nervous.

I am about a week ahead of you in recovery (da Vinci too) and feel unbelievably better than I was a week ago. The evenings are a bit rough but during the day I don't even feel like I had anything done. Back to work in a week and know I will be ready to go! Good luck to you...give it time and if you aren't feeling well enough to go back, talk to your dr. Everyone heals differently.

Re: Getting a little nervous.

I was cleared for work at 4 weeks too and did OK. It will all depend on the type of work you do. I'm pretty much behind a desk all day so my Dr. felt pretty comfortable sending me back. Listen to your body and take it easy the first few days. As for me, no high heels and lots of water and walking to change positions throughtout the day. Best of luck on your return!!

Re: Getting a little nervous.

My hysterectomy was May 21. My return to work date is also June 18th. I'm pretty active now, not getting tired and I have no pain. I'm thinking my body will be ready, but emotionally/mentally I'm worried I will break out crying. I seem to cry over everything!

Re: Getting a little nervous.

I went back at 22 days. decided to do half days for another three weeks. I'm tired when I get home but it's getting better every day. Save your energy as much as you can. Wally World has those electric carts use them. Don't push grocery carts. My hubby won't allow me to shop alone until I am 8 weeks out.
