Fibroids and Internal Damage?

Julia,

At least you were trying to work off what you thought was fat. I was just satisfied with being fat! I've never been slim mind you but now the thought of the possibility is great!!
We have the same size "alien". Isn't life grand? I went today for my pre-op ultrasound. Next week the blood work. Can't wait until this is all overwith. Enough already with strangers poking and proding my most private parts!

Take Care, Julia, will be thinking of you on the 11th.

Linda

Fibroids and Internal Damage?

Hi ladies

I just returned from the castle yesterday. Had TAH/RSO for large fibroids. I lost a soccerball size uterus, cervix and right ovary.
Glad everything is over and went well.
My last period was due the day of surgery, but decided to show up four days early, talk about last revenge! The nurse just gave my mesh panties to wear with a pad, no tampon allowed. Noit a big deal for them.

Hope everyone does well and rests lots after the surgery.

Fibroids and Internal Damage?

I had constant low back ache (which has disappeared!), and bowel issues -- so much so I went in for a colonoscopy last year to see if I had bowel blockage. (I'm 51, so it was time for a colonoscopy anyway). I guess I must have had a fibroid pressing on the bowel at some point ... because it's much better now. I also was very dizzy -- I asked the doctor if the fibroid could be pressing on a nerve or artery and she said it was a possibility. Haven't been dizzy since the surgery, so i assume it was. It's a remarkable thing -- I didn't know how bad I felt until I had the hysterectomy.

Fibroids and Internal Damage?

Hi Ladies.

I had a TAH January 5 due to enlarged uterus and multiple fibroids. It affected my bladder I would feel sick a lot of the time and especially my bowels. The last year was the worst. My right hip and leg where sort of pins and needles numb all the time and I could never get any sleep because my legs ached constantly. I had my uterus and cervix taken and left my ovaries.

The very first week after the op I noticed my legs didnt ache. My hip still has a little nerve damage but nothing like before. Bowels are almost back to normal and getting better everyday. Bladder isnt bad either. Best decision I ever made. I am due for my first period (sort of) after the op and I am getting my usual symptoms but no bleeding... yippeee.... I am feeling better, I do have my good days and bad days but my gyn tells me thats just post op.

I hope everything goes well for you ladies and I will be thinking about you.

Take Care.

Fibroids and Internal Damage?

Pking, I don't know what happened to my last reply. It disappeared on me so I apologize if I am sending the same message twice. The Provera improved my symptoms, but the fibroids continued to grow. After a couple of years the heavy bleeding and getting my period every 2 to 2 1/2 weeks came back. I was hoping it would help me make it to menopause and avoid surgery. I probably waited too long to have the surgery done. The Lupron has not worked that well and has some significant side effects. I have my surgery in 3 weeks so I'll know more about how I feel after that. Take care and good luck making your decison. There are so many things to consider.

Fibroids and Internal Damage?

Thanks for letting me know about how your experience was with progesterone. If my fibroid grows, I will ask to have a hysterectomy. I will keep checking this site for updates, new information and postings.
