postop uniform

Hi there sisters

I went to my oncologist on Wednesday for my pre op (surgery 6/24) and I noticed all the post op women there wearing a uniform. They all had on the same outfit, basically it was the same. It was a long dress to the floor, no waist, some were sleeveless, some had short sleeves, They all looked comfy and you could see the swelly belly.

I ran to a local store and bought 3 as they were inexpensive (15.) but I am too short 5'3" and look fatter than I am BUT I must say they were Comfy. I am now on the shirt for a shorter version possibly a polo shirt dress....One that is above the knee

I also bought FIVE MORE pair of flip flops, since we cannot bend, they are easy to get on and off. and cheape enough.

I realize at home I will be in my p j's but I want to look good and feel good too if I have to go out and I have a few things already to go to. A baby shower and a family picnic that I have never missed in my 49 years.

Hi Loraine,

Yep, comfort is definitely the best thing after surgery. I'm almost two years post-op and still won't wear pants with zippers. Elastic is my friend!!!

Best wishes on your surgery and s,

Lisa

Loraine - I had a TAH on 06/09 and have had great luck finding cute capri pants and shirts in the loungewear/sleepwear department of a few better department stores. They are cute enough to wear out in public. The pants are elastic waist and a very soft cotton but come in some really cute colors and prints. I wore a pair home from the hospital and another pair back for my post op appointment. The pants are lightweight and cool for summer.

(((Loraine))) I found those super comfy t-shirt and polo shirt type long dresses very inexpensively at WalMart! I lived in them after I had colon surgery last year (and they were cheap enough that when I decided I never wanted to see them again, it didn't bother me! ).
