Cold Sores, Aunt Flo and 1 week to go

I had my pre-op with the doc today, donated a pint a blood and chased paperwork. DH went with me to the appt and he said he was glad he did. Hubby made big points when he asked the doc "What can I do to make this easier for my wife?"

Aunt Flo is visiting for one last time, seems like I should be having some sort of party, a "Going In" party perhaps.

And after years of no oral cold sores of course i broke out three days ago with a batch. They are healing faster than usual though which lets me know that my system is recovering from stuff quickly.

Good news from doc, no bowel prep, no special diet, just keep to a normal routine, drink extra water and take a multivitamin to rebuild from the blood i donated today and he patted my shoulder and told me i would do great. Also i asked about music in the operating room and he says he almost always has it, just no hard rock, country or rap. I pretended to look shocked and said "what no KPIG?" I personally love the local country/bluegrass station. Anyways i requested some nice mellow instrumental music.

Next thursday i have my hospital preop and get my pink bracelet of courage. I plan on bringing my plushie/tummy pillow and requesting a pink bracelet for it also. Any of you who watch disney cartoons might appreciate that the little blue alien Stitch is gonna be my hospital angel.

I appreciate the help everyone has been, and thanks to all the hard working staff here.

hi wolfwoman!
good luck on the 29th, I hope everything goes ultra smoothly and your recovery is quick and complete! I had the same surgery (TAH BSO) that you're scheduled for and it wasn't near as bad as I was anticipating. let me know if I can answer any q's for you.
along with your tummy pillow, you might want to consider taking your own bed pillows with you. I did and they are SO much more comfy than the cheesy ones you get at the castle.
sorry bout those cold sores! glad they're healing up quick.
good luck to you, here's to a speedy and total recovery!!
