Pain after lifting but have no lifting restrictions? (children mentioned)

I went back to work this past week and have been exhausted every night. My belly is huge and hits everything in its way. Today I weighed myself and it looks like I gained 20 lbs since preop, but I know that can't be right. The kicker is that I had a fabulous day with my nieces (8,5) and god-children (3,1). I lifted the one year old, who is a chunk, but I can't resist when those little arms reach up for me He weighs 26 lbs.

I just dropped everyone off and now have pain, low right side! During the past week, I still continued to have these pangs of pain, general feeling of just-can't-get-comfortable during the night, but nothing too major. I'm 2 steps away from taking a real pain pill. 800 mg of ibuprofen still isn't working.

I'm at 9 weeks post op.

Does this seem normal, including my frustration?

It's always good to call the Dr, but mine told me I could feel the pangs and twinges of pain for up to 4 months post-op. It is completely frustrating. I really do understand what you are feeling.

I say "when in doubt...call your doc".

Now that, that is out of the way, I had twinges of pain when I lifted my toddler (25 lbs) off and on for a long while after my hyst. My advice would be to take it very easy for the next few days...rest, put your feet up, and try using a heating pad on your back, it might help. I hope you feel better soon.

Pain after lifting but have no lifting restrictions? (children mentioned)

Hi Stella, I had my hyst a few days after u. I still take pain pills when I need them. Don't feel guilt about taking them, thats what they are for, pain. I don't lift anything except a gallon of milk. Iknow it must be hard with kids around. Pain stinks!!!

Take a pain pill! I talked to my doc today about lifting 3 months post-op as my job does involve some She said nothing more than 20lbs.! So be real careful, remember it takes up to a year to fully recover, you don't want any adhesions forming!
