Please feel free to send me a personal message or an e-mail if you need to. If you do have a cancer diagnosis already, there is a cancer concern forum on here. It is helpful, but can be scary to read too much. I am 32, wife and mother of 3. TAH/BSO last week for cervical cancer. DR thought she got all of cancer. Will find out on Friday when we review the path reports. Haven't even thought about it any further. Keeping it positive. No news is good news. As far as the HRT goes. It's a very personal decision. There's probably as many good benefits as bad side effects. The way my Dr did it made sense. So, I'm giving it a whirl. I feel good right now. She tested my hormone levels before surgery and a little while after surgery. She then leveled me out at my pre surgery level and then gradually increased me to what she considered normal. So far, no night sweats and only one emotional breakdown, which could have just been from the overwhelming of all of this. As far as preparing the family, I quoted things I read on this site to my husband several times so he would get it. Yes I have cancer, but this is a hysterectomy and what to expect. I haven't told the children I have cancer. I will if anything else has to be done, but with the kind I have, it's rare to need much more immediate treatment. As far as weight gain goes, my husband was a size 28 when we married. he's now a 36! I told him when my size increased as much as his, we'd talk! I think he fully supports my decision there. In preparing for leave of absense. I prepared the office as if I would be on vacation last week. did everything I could in advance. Dulled out other duties exactly the same as when I took a weeks vacation in July. Easy for everyone to remember what they did for me. I know my paycheck was in the bank on Friday! That's all that matters at this point! Right?!? I have made myself accessible by e-mail and by phone only if necessary. Don't want to get woke up from my afternoon nap you know. As far as the kids and the DH. Grandma and Auntie (with only one 15 yr. old left in the house) did remember how to feed, bath and get kids to school. I was amazed!! I made my husband stay at the hospital with me! All went well and even though we don't like to believe that we are not needed, we are NEEDED, but hopefully have taught them enough to get by when we're down. Good luck to you!
