13 days post hysterectomy BLEEDING ??

Hi All
Tomorrow will be two weeks since my TAH left in cervix and ovaries. I had my check up on Friday and all was great. The doctor said I could drive, walk short distances, do the stairs etc. Yesterday I started with some spotting and today I have bright red blood intermittently; not gushing but enough to make the toilet water turn color. Has anyone else had this? I am going to call my doctor when they open at 9AM, but in the mean time I wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else and what their doctor said?

thanks so much!

Because you kept your cervix and ovaries, you could be having a miniperiod. Basically, the cervix is a part of the uterus, and because there's no clear dividing line to tell the surgeon where to make his cut, there's always the chance of leaving some endometrial tissue behind, and you could bleed from that. My hysterectomy was also supracervical, and I was told to expect this, but I never had that; usuaally, the cervix is cauterized to prevent this, so you may want to ask your surgeon about that. Best wishes for your continued recovery!

Re: 13 days post op BLEEDING ??

You could also experience bleeding following an increase in activity, which is normal.

Please see the article about it:https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/article_550382.htm
