Uterine Ligaments and Hysterectomy

Hello Sweet Sisters! Hope you are all doing well

I was curious for those that have had your hysters already, or those of you who are nurses, what does the surgeon do to the ligaments after he cuts them? sew them together or just sew them in with the vaginal cuff?

Thank you in advance for any info you can give me and have a great day!

Many surgeons use ligaments to support the vaginal cuff. That is what mine did.

Raindorp! Great question... my doctor back in 1994 cut the ligaments and tendons holding my uterus. I had really flat belly before that, well, after surgery my stomach stuck out and has since... I could weigh 80 lbs. and it stuck out... Doctor said the uterus and everything was now falling forward and he was going to do a hysto in a few more years, he retired before I got the hysto and have lived with pain and troubles since... I wondered afterward what he did with the ligs. and tend. but never asked...

as the pp mentioned, my doc cut them and sewed them to the top of the vagina to hold it in place.

There are numerous techniques but mainly the cut ligaments are reattached to the pelvic floor structures to provide support.

Thank you sisters, for your info. I am glad I am going to have some extra support down there now that the uterus and cervix are gone.

Hope you are all having smooth recoveries!

Best Wishes,
Kristy
