Depression

I'm battling it in a big way right now. With the combo of pain, medication and lack of sunlight (i have a mild form of SAD), I"m really suffering this winter. Some days are not so bad, but i'd say 2 out of 3 I'm really depressed, to the point where i want to do absolutely NOTHING but sleep. Anyone else going through similar problems?

Hi Jalynne,

I'm sorry that you have been feeling depressed, but I was wondering if you have talked to your doctor about it yet? He may be able to prescribe a mild anti-depressant that will help.

Also - I don't know if they work, but I have seen light-boxes and lamps advertised as being helpful for people with SAD. Apparently they mimic sunlight, and are supposed to help with the symptoms of SAD.

I did a google search and found lots of links to commercial sites selling the lamps (I'd check with my doctor to see if he thinks they may help).

Your profile doesn't indicate where you live, so I don't know how long your winters are. I hope you'll see some soon.

Depression

Thanks for the Hug. I have a sun lamp, and it helps most of the time. The big problem for me with taking meds is that i'm allergic to so much...it's not something i really want to mess with. It seems to be more of a stress related depression, really...people asking me to do stuff, and i want to, but can't, so i feel like a failure, etc...is this normal?

Depression

Hi -

I also am feeling this way, I think a combination of being in pain all of the time, and the miserable cold, dark weather ( I am in New Jersey it has been brutal here), it is all I can do to try to get anything accomplished and I just want to stay in bed all of the time. I am already on antidepressants I suffer from clinical depression but this is worse than my usual. I just don't feel like doing anytyhing, it is a major effort just to get dressed and go to the store or something. My house is a mess, I am hoping to at least get a little energy to get somethings done around here before my castle trip, which I am hoping to be sometime in feb. I just keep hoping most of all that once this is all over, and I am recovered, that I will feel so much better, as so many princesses have reported they have !!

Best wishes,

Wendy
