I GOT A NEW DATE!!!!!!!!

HI LADIES,
I FINALLY GOT OVER THE FLU AND HAVE GOTTEN A NEW SURGERY DATE 02/13/01 TAH-BSO UTERIAN CANCER. I HAVE A QUESTION I HOPE SOMEONE CAN ANSWER. I HAVE HAD VERY HEAVY BLEEDING FOR A WHILE BUT MY HEMOGLOBIN COUNT IS REALLY HIGH AND THE DOC SAID THAT IS ODD. HEMOGLOBIN IS 17.2. MY QUESTION IS WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? IS IT GOOD OR BAD AND WHY IS IT SO HIGH? SHOULD I BE WORRIED? MY DOC IS NOT MUCH HELP. HE DOESN'T GIVE ALOT OF INFORMATION AND HE SEEMED STUMPED HIS SELF. I HAVE BEEN TAKING VITAMINS AND EATING LOTS OF FRESH VEGGIES AND FRUITS AND DRINKING LOTS OF JUICES SO I CAN BE HEALTHY FOR MY TRIP TO THE CASTLE. I'VE ALREADY HAD TO CANCEL THREE TIMES AND I DON'T WANT TO AGAIN. THANKS FOR LISTENING AND I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP WITH THESE QUESTIONS.

I GOT A NEW DATE!!!!!!!!

Hi Roseanne. I don't know the answer to your question, but I wanted to bump this back to the top. I've had problems getting in to the site and so have many others, and it seems that quite a few posts are getting buried and going unanswered. It's not intentional. BTW, I'm glad you have your new date. Stay in touch.

hemoglobin count is good

hi. I am a new hyster sister (name on board is sbest) Hemoglogin (HB) is a protien that exists within your red blood cells (RBC's). It's major function is to carry oxygen to our cells which is essential for us to make energy to live life. Usually when we bleed (from any source) a lot, our HB count goes down, since we loose RBC's. That is why your doc is puzzled, b/c you should not be so healthy. But is is a good thing. For women the normal HB count is between 12 and 16. For males it is 14-18. Iron, by the way is a component of the HB molecule that actually binds the oxygen. so if we are low on iron, we may feel tired, since we may not be carrying as much oxygen to our tissue cells, thus we cannot make as much energy. So you are doing all the right things eating well and taking iron. You are lucky to have the high HB is spite of your bleeding. I am currently studying to be a Physician Assistant. Don't you hate when docs won't take the time to tell you a little info? Any other help I can offer feel free to email me at "sbest6@juno.com" Prayers and Blessings. Sharon.
