Living Pain Free - Very Strange Sensation
Hello Ladies,
For years and years I have suffered with pain before, during, and after my monthly. I had one problem after another. Now, that I am on the other side of my surgery, I am finding it very strange not to have that usual pain. It really has taken me back quite a bit. I have to remind myself that I am ok to not be in pain.
I have thrown away my 4 blood stained beach towels, and matress pad. All my stained underware is gone. And I bought fresh. Even some of my blood stained slacks, skirts, and dresses are gone.
My dh even has noticed a huge change in my entire demeanor. He says that I am so much more happier, and at ease with myself throughout the entire month. It is really has been life altering for both of us. It is so strange not to have pain or be doubled over or gushing blood, etc.
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this wonderful experience too?
Blessings All Around.

Living Pain Free - Very Strange Sensation
I found it very strange as well at first. Before my op I was missing out on life b/c of cramps and bleeding. This healthy feeling has now become "mormal" for me and I'm loving it! I didn't realize how sick and nasty I felt until I started recovering! Wow, I am still surprised. Best wishes to all!

Roseptl,
I am only five days out after a TAH and I feel the same way! It has freaked me out that I don't have to use the bathroom between every commercial on TV....my back already feels better. I can't wait to see how I feel in a month! YAY!

Caffeine became one of my biggest enemies before the surgery. I found that caffeine inflames fibroids so I had to stop drinking coffee. It is so nice to have a cup of coffee now. I am just getting to the point where I do not second guess what I have to drink because of pain.
Another small victory,

Living Pain Free - Very Strange Sensation
As I told my doctor the other day, I am completely satisfied with the outcome of my surgery! Pain is gone! woohoo. The other day I went in for a follow up at the doc. He was looking for some fluid on my cuff and he went hunting. I did not have hardly any pain. He was digging around after all. I left amazed because before surgery the exams were sooooo painful. And of course sex is pain free! I still shake my head!

Living Pain Free - Very Strange Sensation
Hey Roseptl,
It's been a strange road - one I would gladly do all over again but I agree with you. Even after reading so many threads about how wonderful everyone felt after they had it done it still seems strange that I'm not suffering from something I had been every month for the last 24+ years! Sometimes I wake up expecting to have the headaches and waiting for the bloating and cramping to start and it seems strange not to get it. Like it's lying in wait around a corner and will jump out and surprise me!!
But life on this side is amazing... glad to hear you are recovering well.

Living Pain Free - Very Strange Sensation
Hi Roseptl,
It's been almost 3 years since my hyster and almost immediately after surgery I couldn't believe how well I felt and yes my demeanour has changed most definately for the better also. In fact it wasn't until after the surgery I realised how sick I'd been, nor the amount of pain I'd been in. As women we tend to accept it as our lot far too often and put everyone else before us. Hubby and I have found a renewed intimacy that I never thought possible.
Take care.........Karen

(((Roseptl))), I can completely identify with everything you're saying. I'm over 5 months post op, and still have to pinch myself sometimes. I honestly never realized just how badly I felt until I started to feel better.
I spent years knowing *exactly* where I was in my cycle - different types of pain, different emotions, at every stage. Now, I'm happy to say - even though I've retained my ovaries - I have no idea when my period would be if I had it. I have no symptoms - it's a completely different way of living. My life doesn't revolve around my cycle anymore. It's a miracle, truly.
My hope is that everyone reading this can be as blessed as I have been.
