4 hours before my surgery

Hi there this is my first time on here, just wondered if it's normal to feel weak from the bowel prep yesterday and not having anything to eat? I'm sure my nerves aren't helping the situation either.

Yep. Totally normal. There's little in you to provide you nourishment and help the muscles work. Your body has to use its fat and muscle resources to feed itself. Don't worry. You'll be back to eating soon!

Absolutely normal! I felt exhausted, thirsty, I had a headache, and I just couldn't wait for the IV, then the sedative! Have a terrific day!!!

Oh, yeah. I love hospital food too! I begged to be discharged AFTER lunch. LOL! Also, they REALLY pump you FULL of fluids. I left there 13lbs heavier than when I arrived. I was that bloated full of fluids - I think mostly due to the IV.

Just want to get it over with but my greatest fear is not waking up has anybody else have this fear???

Yes, I also had the fear of not waking up but of course you do. I told myself, I'll be constantly monitored & the medical staff do this every day, if not a few times. But it was still hard not to worry. Try to take some deep breathes & soon the surgery will be behind you.

Good luck! I was a mess with no food for 26 hours with the bowel prep. I was dehydrated and had the worst headache ever. Just tell them all this when you get there and they will hook you up. They gave me iv fluids and dilaudid for my headache and also a cold towel for my head. : )
