fibroids and cysts, falling bladder, hysterectomy? I feel indifferent!

I had an ultrasound for pink/lt Brown discharge and pain last week. The report noted fibroids and cysts. I am 51, my bladder is falling I guess. (Seeing a urologist soon.) Gyn says I also have an overreactive bladder. I had cervical dysplasia a few years ago and the cryosurgery for that. My former gyn and now my new one suggested thinking about a hysterectomy. I teach special ed so I could do this in June. But........I am so torn!! I know it is a personal decision, and it would ease some bladder stress for me but now, major surgery scares me. I also have autoimmune issues such as Sjogren's syndrome (terrible drying issues- throat dried out in a previous surgery once, and joint pain) and fibromyalgia. I'm a mess.

Also, I am about 5 yrs postmenopausal....

Re: fibroids and cysts, falling bladder, hysterectomy? I feel indifferent!

Hello
Wow it sounds like you have been through a lot! I would get a second or third opinion if I were you before doing a Hysterectomy! It sounds like you have a lot of risks associated for a major surgery like that. I would definitely take care of the bladder issue first with the Urologist.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Like what risks ? Aren't the fibroids and cysts, occasional discharge, and previous cervical dysplasia and bladder leakage enough? Just curious. Thanks for the reply, Lisa.
