nerves are setting in

I am scheduled for an lavh on feb. 22 besides going thru surgery for the first time i am also diabetic. I am not for sure if i want to keep my ovaries or not. I know taking hormones are not good for diabetics, does anyone have any advice out there for me? Thanks

I have no cancer history so chose to keep mine. I am type 2 but have never heard hormones are a problem for diabetics. I personally can't tolerate them but have always been that way. In fact, my dr. tried me on progesterone before surgery just to try to reduce my bleeding while we were waiting for me to have a break in my schedule to get my hyst done.

This is something you really need to discuss with your doctor. He or she should be able to tell you if there are any issues with HRT and diabetes. Don't necessarily believe what you find on the Internet regarding HRT and health. It is really an individual decision, and very dependent on your health and family history. Has your doctor recommended you keep your ovaries?
