Traveling by plane after two weeks?

I did not travel by plane, but this type of question comes up quite a bit on the site. I highly recommend talking to your dr about if this will be okay for you or not. If it is, your dr probably has some good suggestions such as making sure you don't lift your luggage, walking while on the plane when you can, that type of thing. Blood clots can be an issue so you need to know what you can do to prevent them.

I know if I had been scheduled to fly two weeks after my hyst it would not have happened. Due to complications, I was not even released until the 10th day in the hospital and then I had many restrictions.

Best wishes to you!

Traveling by plane after two weeks?

ArticChick,
What kind of hyst are you getting done? I had a TAH,RSO on the 14th and definitely would not have been traveling on a plane withing 2 weeks. My surgery was almost scheduled for a week before I had a trip planned and when I talked to the nurse she said no way that would work. Talk To your doctor about it, it also probably depends on the type of hyst you are having too. Best wishes on your surgery and recovery. Take care

Traveling by plane after two weeks.

Hello Sisters,

Thank you for your messages. I am having a LAVH done tomorrow Friday October 13th. I am traveling by plane on the 29th. Lucky me, I won't be carrying my luggage which is a relief...

Did anybody traveled after two weeks?

Thank you.

Traveling by plane after two weeks?

Wow..... I wouldn't have tried it either. I'm just being honest with you.

Remember, it isn't just the plane ride. It's the waiting in line at the check-in, more waiting at the security check, more waiting to get on the plane, waiting to take off, etc.... If your doctor does give you the OK for this (which he/she may not, by the way), please be very gentle with yourself and plan lots of extra rest. Standing in line is very exhausting, even for someone who isn't a new .

to you.

About traveling by plane after two weeks.

Hello Sisters,

Thank you for your message. I will keep my hopes up about the trip because we have everything ready to go.
Unfortanetly we can't choose the surgery dates and these days is even worse trying to negotiate it...it might take too long. So, I took the one for tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Artic Chick.

Traveling by plane after two weeks?

This is something you need to discuss with your doctor. You might want to read this article about post-op travel.

I hope it helps.

Thank you!

Hello Sisters,

Thank you for your input. I have been nervous today and cried but for other added reasons...It seems to be that before surgery we think a lot...

Regards,

Artic Chick
