a decision to make

I would like to see if anyone has had a similar situation, I am 32 and have been told i can have hormones or a hysterectomy as we have exhusted all the other options including ablation which I had in December. The ablation may have lightened my cycle but I am having a period every 2 weeks with spotting in between. They cannot find a reason for the bleeding that has continued to get more frequent over the last 2 years, and my doctor is not to keen on me taking the hormones. I have also tried natural alternatives so any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm sorry that you continue to have bleeding problems, despite the ablation and other treatments.

Has adenomyosis ever been suggested as a possible reason for the continued bleeding? I'm asking because it is very hard to diagnose yet often can be the underlying problem when you have that kind of bleeding and it doesn't respond to ablation or other hormone treatments. Adenomyosis is sort of like endometriosis, but it grows inside the uterus. The endometrial lining begins to grow into the uterine muscle. Unfortunately the only "cure" for adeno is a hysterctomy.

I'd also encourage you to read about adenomyosis and ask your doc if this might be the underlying problem.

Hi (((nettab))) I'm sorry you are having to consider a hysterectomy. Has your DR told you why he isn't keen on your taking the hormones? Are we talking about Lupron here, or depo-provera, or something else? Some women do find them to be a reasonable non-surgical solution to their problems.

Have you had a second opinion yet? I'd encourage you to do that... it can either open you up to other alternatives, or help confirm in your mind that the hyst is the right solution for you.
