Pain when urinating

I had complete open abdominal hysterectomy ( they left my overies) on dec 26th and when I go pee it hurts like heck. Like someone is ripping my insides out. At my one week check I told him and he treated me for a uti (bladder infection) but I know that wasn't it. It doesn't feel anything close to a uti. Is anyone else having this pain ? Also I start to have insomnia the last two weeks. I am awake all night sleep a few hours during the day, then tired as heck all day long. Is insomnia normal ??

Re: Pain when urinating

I was the same way with sleep. My sleeping patterns were all over the place. For me it didn't get worked out until it had too and that was when I went back to work You need to go in and talk to your doctor about the pains you are having when going pee Hun. It maybe a uti but he will be able to do a urine test rite there to determine if it is or if it is something else. Plus you can discuss your nit sleeping also Please call him today. You don't want to have to deal with this all weekend or make a trip to the ER. Keep us posted Hun and good luck

Re: Pain when urinating

I had bladder pain when I peed for about 12 weeks, it slowly went off over time. The surgeon said it was due to scar tissue around the bladder forming and pulling on it.
I found I could ease it a bit by sitting very upright on the loo, and putting my bum right to the back of the seat, then i woudl hold my tummy up a bit to take the weight off my bladder. Deep breaths and my eyes closed and I could go with a lot less pain.
i don't know if this sounds similar to what you are experiencing, but if you really are in so much pain, like your insides are ripping out, you need to see a doctor right away!

Re: Pain when urinating

My doc told me a uti was common after surgery and called me in an antibiotic....after a couple of doses my pain went away.
