Last night of work!!!
Have 30 mins left of this evening.. and i am out of here for a few weeks. I am an "as needed" employee.. and the past month have only been "needed" 4 hrs.. once a week.. but has been over 30 hrs in the past.. I have been happy to take a breather lately.. since my pelvic pain has been so bad.
It's really starting to sink in.. tomorrow i have Pre op at Dr and possibly hosp.
Getting even more nervous.. very excited.. and a lot scared.
Told my DH i need to snuggle on the couch tonight.. He suggested Movie nite and that is fine by me... AFTER i take a few vicodens..
Good luck to all my sisters.. I will be on a lot this weekend.. last minute freakout.. that i am kinda assuming i will be having. and getting the jitters out..
*biting my nails nervously.. but watching the clock***

Re: Last night of work!!!
Feel better soon hun. Honestly, my surgery wasn't as bad as I'd feared. The pain meds did their job. I was shocked to find that my post op pain was basically the way my vagina feels when I'm having a bad day on my period. Your tummy gets bloated and it kinda pulls at your incisions. My doc used some kind of glue to close up the incisions on my tummy. I thought it was the most brilliant thing ever. It's saved alot of pain. The worst part is the gas and bloating you get. Once you overcome that, the pain isn't too bad at all. I would suggest starting stool softeners now to help later. Gas-x is also quite wonderful after surgery to relieve some of the pressure.

Re: Last night of work!!!
the good thing is.... i have been on vicoden for a while now.. i did go through a bit of constipation in the beginning... but lately i have been really regular..
the bad thing is... i have been on vicoden for a while ... scared that it is not going to take the "surgery" pain away.. (positive thinking that i will wake up with only surgery pain)
Just have to wait and see..
BTW I AM HOME!!! Done with work YAY arty:

Re: Last night of work!!!
If you're used to constant pain, the surgery pain may not be a big deal to you. I was only having pain with certain activities and certain times of the month. I got morphine the day of surgery. Best stuff ever! I know I sound like a druggy when I say that but seriously it works so incredibly well. The next day, they switched me to Percocet which didn't work quite so well but has kept me at a tolerable level. You won't be having a BM for 3-4 days after surgery. I think something about it is traumatic to your system. The stool softeners really help when your system starts working again. The Gas-x is a godsend because they fill your belly with gas and like I said before, that's probably the most painful part of the whole thing.

Re: Last night of work!!!
Wishing you an easy weekend, with lots of room for snuggling, crying, freaking out, and laughter...
I had such a hard time my last few days at work, kinda like senioritis, but with added grown-up responsibilities of needing to ensure tasks were delegated "just right" before taking a long leave
I had my LAVH Tuesday, met my doc (had only spoken to him on the phone previously) and had all my preop stuff last Friday, then proceeded to keep myself very very busy the 3 days in between.
In a book someone suggested to me on preparing for surgery there was a section or paragraph on identifying our individual coping style, which really helped me just "be" with my busyness this past weekend without all my added personal favorite "shoulds" increasing my stress level...I just noticed what I was doing and worked on loving myself through the whole imperfect process!
