Help Me!!!!!!
I haven't had mine yet but I can tell you why I decided to have one. For years I have suffered with heavy bleeding and painful periods. Then about a year ago, it was discovered that I had large fibroids. The fibroids are now pressing on other things like my bladder, intestines, etc. I can't laugh, sneeze or cough without worrying about accidents. My periods are another source of anguish worrying about flooding, etd. My doctor finally said that we should do something about them and referred me to the gyn. I spoke with him for about 40 minutes or so and we decided then and there that a hysterectomy was the only choice I had at this point (other than doing nothing or a myoectcomy(sp?)). I don't want to spend years trying procedures that probably won't work in the end, so I said to go with the hysterectomy. They began the scheduling process that day before I left the office. I have not regretted the decision, except for a few fleeting thoughts here and then. I've been reading all I can from the internet and especially this website and I am more sure than ever that this is what I want to do. I do not feel apprehensive about the surgery because thanks to all the women here I feel like I know every step of the way what will happen to me, and even what might go wrong (and then what to do about it). Keep reading and posting.
