Scheduled for surgery

After years of infertility treatments, miscarriages, endometriosis, monthly ovarian cysts, irregular cycles, digestive problems, etc... my doctor recently found a large mass on my left ovary and a smaller one on the right. A CT scan confirmed the ultrasound results and he immediately scheduled me to have a full hysterectomy on 8/16. My CA215 was normal as was my pap smear, but he has a gyn/oncologist on call during the surgery. What questions should I be asking the doctor? This has me kind of overwhelmed and I don't know where to start. I've never had major surgery - What sorts of things should I be prepared for when I come home from the hospital?

Thanks!

Scheduled for surgery

Hi and Welcome!!

The first few days after you find yourself facing this surgery are VERY stressful. Finding this site was the best thing that could have happened to me, and I hope you will find the same comfort here!

If you go to the home page, scroll down to the Pull Down Menus. Then...start reading! There are lists of ideas to help you prepare yourself, your family, and your home for surgery and recovery. There's a list of questions to ask your doctor. There are stories of many women who have had a variety of procedures.

Most importantly, talk to your doctor. Make sure you are clear on all your options, and get the pro's and con's on every choice. Perhaps seek a second opinion to be sure you are comfortable with the decisions. And above all, keep reading and posting here! We will be with you every step of the way!!!

So glad you are here with us...hang in there and we'll get you through this.

s to you!

Karen
