Adenomyosis / Endo / Adhesions - Hysterectomy Booked

Hi there
I am new to these boards. I am scheduled for a LAVH on the 27th May. I have had endometriosis and my last lap suspected I had adenomyosis. That was in 2009. I got the Mirena IUD which after a settling period did work well for about 2 1/2 years. I had another one put in August 2013 but it's not working and I can't stand the way I feel anymore so am opting for hysterectomy with the hope to preserve my ovaries but they can have the rest!! I am 44 and have two great kids aged 13 and 11. The last few months have been tough. I am pretty active and love playing tennis and going to the gym and doing spin classes or walking the dog. I was always an avid runner as well but the impact just makes my insides ache now so I don't run. I really have to
Push myself to stay active but it's getting harder. I constantly feel bloated, I look like I am 5 months pregnant - I have stacked on the weight and cannot for the life of me shift it. I have terrible sciatic pain in my left hip/back which is worse during ovulation and my period. I have back ache and period type pain most days all month. I feel like my insides are all stuck together. I don't have painful sex, but I constantly feel that my bowel is full, bladder function is normal but my digestion is crazy! Anything I eat upsets me and just bloats me. I am thinking that there are many of you out there that feel this way too. I feel like I'm in a vicious cycle of feeling crap! I feel most days I have to have a 20 min power nap just to keep going. Anyway - I need support - no one I know suffers like this. Feeling down and out. Apologies for the long post. Claire x

Re: Adenomyosis / Endo / Adhesions - Hysterectomy Booked

I am booked for the same exact thing. I have all your symptoms. Plus chronic PID. I am miserable and can't wait to say goodbye to my uterus and cervix!

It is very depressing not being able to do anything physical. I too have gained weight since last august - my last flare up that just never got better.

Keep yourself busy and keep your mind on being well after surgery. I have so many plans for after my recovery. I won't ever take my health for granite again!
