Pre-op today-no bowel prep or special eating

I had my pre-op today and was told no bowel prep or light eating the day before. I was wondering if anyone else was told this. I have been hearing so much about bowel prep I got nervous that I don't have to do this. Any thoughts from anyone?

What kind of surgery are you having? When I had my laparscopy, I didn't have a bowel prep or special eating before either! E

I had to do bowel prep. because of endo. Dr. did not want to damage bowel if endo was real bad. I think it all depends on your surgeon.

I am having a TAH.

I'm having a LSH/BSO. It probably depends on your doctor. I hope I don't have to have one either. Wish me luck!

I had a TAH last week. I did not have any bowel prep, or diet restrictions prior to my surgery. I actually went out to dinner the night before my sugery and had a wonderful steak.

I made it through the surgery just fine, and the memory of my great steak dinner carried me through a few bad hospital meals!

No bowel prep or special diet before my TAH either. I'm sure this is based on the preference of the individual surgeon.

It depends on the doc. I didn't have any special instructions, so I ate everything is sight up until 8 hours before. I did take their advice and bought glyceron suppositories, but did not need them. What a blessing! Now what am I going to do with them????

Had my pre op Monday and was told no bowel pre will be done the dos. But, if I wanted to take one dose of Milk of magnesia the day before that was ok... ...or she also suggested that I skip the mom dose and just eat more fruits and veggies and bran for a few days before so I can go after surgery.
