Getting ready for work after 6 wks!
Well, the time has come for me to return to work. I go back next week, Tuesday.
I'm a little worried because I've noticed the 'Mind Fog' kick in and I can't be foggy minded at work. I've gone into the office a couple of times to do 2-3 hrs. of work but in the evening I feel very achy.
I think my biggest concern is this...I graduate this Sunday and I know come next week my responsibilities are going to increase. I hope I'm up to what will be expected of me not only by my overseers, but by myself.
I can say this...every morning I thank God for the difference between now and weeks 1-4. I feel so much better regardless of achyness, lack of sleep, hot flashes. I can sleep on both sides, and on occasion have woken up on my tummy, which is my favorite position to sleep! I can get up from both sides too...that's a biggie for me.
For those of you going through the 1-5 week post op...take it slow, listen to your body, give it time and all will pass. Oh...and crying can be very freeing...this is coming from someone who never cried before, but has since become a pro!

Getting ready for work after 6 wks!
Syndie (I love the way your name is spelled!!!), I had a slow recovery, and had to be very careful when I went back to work in order to have enough energy for it all. Keeping that in mind, there was one thing that I did that helped so much. I reminded myself that there were only two things I had to focus on...going to work, and resting when I got home. When people asked about me doing other things, I gently told them that these two things were all I could do right now. People were great about it, and it really made going back to work go smoothly. Even as I type right now there are rooms in my house that haven't been cleaned since before my January surgery date!!! And everyone who matters understands!!! Hopefully you won't have to go at it as slowly as I did, but do remember that you are in charge of your life and you are the one that knows best what to do and not to do!!!
Best wishes to you!!!

Congrats on the graduation, Sydie!
And on all those steps you've made towards a full recovery.
When you go back to work, please give yourself time to adjust and heal.
Six weeks isn't a magic number.
I was surprised at how easily I would get exhausted when I went back to work. I had to give myself permission to rest more than often.
To your continued success!

Thanks. I think this is the first time in my life I am thinking of myself more than anyone or anything else. I really want to get ALL better as soon as I can so I have been taking special care of myself. Again, thanks!
