when is it safe to leave the house after a hysterectomy?

I'm 13 days post op, I feel ok apart from a heavy sensation in my lower abdomen, I really need to get out! Is it too soon?

I went for a walk around the block four days after surgery, my first full day home from the hospital. After my walk I rested and felt good, so I went back out and walked around *two* blocks.

At 13 days, I walked 0.9 miles in 14 minutes to get to a local clinic to have my staples removed. Up until then I'd been sticking to flat ground, but over the next few days I started walking up and down steep hills. I was able to walk to the supermarket a mile away (including a steep hill) and restock on groceries as long as I didn't buy more than 10 lbs at a time.

If you feel ok you should be alright to go out for a short walk, I got my partner to come out with me just in case I felt a bit funny at first. Take it slow and don't overdo it, can go out for a little longer each time you go out

I went out the day after I got home and never stopped. As long as you stay away from your restricted activities and take a break if you get tired or sore, you should be fine. It is really a mood booster to get out of the house!

I was out driving four days after surgery.

I was grocery shopping two days after surgery. I took no pain meds at all didn't even get a script to bring home with me. But after my two week checkup she had figured out I really over done myself so now I'm on bed rest until March 16 which will be my 6 week check up. So in other words watch what u do and Def watch what you say to your doctor. Weather u feel good or not!

Thanks ladies this realm helped. I managed to get out, just for tea, will definitely be resting up today, didn't think I over did it, but really painful this morning.
