LAVH: LAVH Ladies needed.

I am do for a LAVH on November 13th. Womb and cervix going. Can you all please tell me about your experience with your surgery, healing, and sex life after the fact?

I am pretty nervous. Scared out of my wits!!! I am only 37 and are very worried about my sex life going in the toilet. Worried about healing and the time with it, and the OPERATION!

I had a LAVH. I was mostly healed in 6 weeks. However, my healing time may be slower than yours as I had an oophoectomy and endo excision. In general, you really can't compare hysterectomy types and healing times because you may have different work done. A woman who has a bladder sling and A and P repairs may take longer to heal than one who didn't. It also has a lot to do with your surgeon's skill, how well you rest in the weeks after surgery, etc. So generally with a vaginal hysterectomy, healing time is about a month, and usually 6-8 weeks before clearance before sex. For me, I had no issues with my vaginal cuff. Sex is better than it was before because my cervix caused me pain, so removing it helped. Some women miss their cervix being bumped during sex. Some women miss uterine contractions. For me orgasms are more intense and I enjoy sex more. Hope this helps some.
