5 weeks post hysterectomy, kept ovaries - menopause?

My surgery was december 8th I had excessive cell damage from endometriosis the doctor saved my ovaries but had to remove my uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix ,appendix I had endometriosis growing outside my appendix and inside my appendix it was all the way up under my ribcage my uterus was the size of a four month pregnancy doctor had to reposition my bladder I have something growing on it they believe it's the start of endometriosis my bladder was in the shape of a c from being pushed off to the side my question is for you should I already be feeling menopause side effects or is it still my hormones that are out of whack I noticed I have hair on my lip it's getting a little thicker and longer. I thought if I kept my ovaries there wouldn't be any side effects.

Re: menopause

After surgery your ovaries may not have started working again - this is quite normal.

I think you just have to be patient.

5 weeks post hysterectomy, kept ovaries - menopause?

As the previous poster suggested, it's quite common for the ovaries to temporarily shut down following a hysterectomy; it's because their main blood supply - the uterine artery - has been severed, and they can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to establish a new supply. In the meantime, if you have no issues with eating soy, then 1-2 daily servings of tofu, edamame, or soy milk can help with hormonal balance. If things aren't back to normal by the 2 month mark, then ask your doctor about taking hormone replacement on a temporary basis. Best wishes for your continued recovery!

hi I am almost 9 weeks out and kept my ovaries as well , they do shut down for a while but rebound so you shouldn't go through menopause . I also got hormone surges week 3 and 4 😊 good luck
