dVH/RALH: insurance cancelled while i was in prep for or.

My surgeon informed me my insurance canceled me. I had a complete meltdown. My husband mother the surgeon and I were all on the phone with my employer ans insurer. I had to go home. They swore AFTER it was too late to go in they had reviewed everything and my short term disability and insurance were approved retroactive to 8/8.

I had a complete meltdown all tubed up in the PACU. What I've come to learn is this type of egregious behavior is normal for insurance xompanies. I am now curled up in a ball, in pain, again waiting. We may be able to reschedule surgery for Monday or Tuesday but my mother flies back home Wednesday and came in all the way from Oregon for this procedure. I am confused and terrified. I don't know if I can go through this again. Half the battle with these surgeries is mental. I am lost and trying to get i. Back totogether. This whole process has been a fight. From the insane surgeon to surviving financially while awaiting disability decision. To fighting over ensuring all of this was in place and double checking on Thursday to checking into PACU, being hooked up and preparing for major surgery and then wap. No go. Praying to have a forgiving heart but wanted someone to be fired for what theyve put my family and I through. I have anxiety disorder and don't know how to get back to normal. This situation was subhuman and inhumane. My health was directly impacted by an insurer playing doctor and they sure didn't save any money.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I've called my insurance company several times to make sure all is covered. I'm also nervous about this & just wanted to let you know to stay strong. Everything will work out well for you.

Reading all these horror stories about insurance companies makes me very glad that we have socialized health care in New Zealand. The only reason surgery gets canceled is if an emergency takes your spot.

I'm back! Surgery is rescheduled for October 9th. I had to spend a week at a psych facility, shortly after my last post I suffered a nervous breakdown due to trauma. I am now in intensive outpatient therapy in an attempt to prepare me for walking back into that hospital without a meltdown. Must give a big thanks to my assigned case management nurse who managed to get the issue sorted and I was finally paid wages owed which took a major stressor away. I have great insurance, I learned they weren't the problem, it was my short term disability provider who was the problem. SURPRISE (sarcasm). Hope all my September Sisters are healing well, thank you all for your help. I'm enjoying my final menstrual cycle and it is definitely reminding me we have made the right decision. Possibly the worst cycle i've had to date.

I'm sorry you had to go through this! I am so glad things got figured out and a got bit more settled for you! Thank goodness you are getting back in for surgery next week.

Ugh... Those insurance companies makes my blood boil! I truly feel for everyone who has to fight with those companies!

I'm in Sweden and am forever grateful that we have universal healthcare and have had for a very long time!

Oh my goodness, that is awful. In Britain the National Health Service has its faults but I would rather our system that be beholden to insurance companies. Hope everything gets sorted for you.
