dVH/RALH: nervous about hysterectomy on the 18th

I'm nervous about how I'm going to feel after, whether I have 1 ovary or none, and if this surgery makes my pain end.

I have had cysts on my right ovary multiple times, painful periods before kids, tubes tied then very heavy periods. An ablation, which worked great for almost 2 years. Then started having pain in abdomin & shot down my leg. Every other month, then every month. Was told it was my knee, so I had a meniscus repaired. 6 months later they thought it was my appendix. Had it removed. (And a cyst they found) a few months later, then the pain was coming every month.

I'm pretty much surviving on pain killers for about 5 days every 24 days. Just praying this surgery gets rid of my pain for good...

Hope and pray that this surgery is your last and ends your pain. I myself have had suffered from painful cyst on the right side and also had my appendix removed because of endo. I'm going for my third surgery in 16 months on Friday so I understand. The thought of having this hysterectomy is very scary but it's great that we have this site to prepare us and give support.

Sounds like my story Graham's. I've been treated as IBS all along. Pain down left thigh, lower back, etc. today's my day. I'll keep you posted. Sending hugs!

Good luck cp214. Gotta say I'm happy to hear someone else's pain goes down a leg. I thought I was just an oddity.

I hope the surgery takes away your pain!

My husband thought I was crazy. I have shooting pain down my left leg at times, back pain and horrible right side ovary pain. Had two laprascopic surgeries to remove cysts but they grow back. Getting tah June 25 and praying this takes everything away. I also hope I can go bacck to my active life style and lose weight. I am only 33, a little nervous about surgical menopause but hoping it takes all the pain away.

Alice, are you having both ovaries removed? I'm having everything, including right ovary. But won't know about left until i wake up. The dr will decide once he is in...

Yes, I am having both ovaries removed. I have occaisional pain on the left as well.
