bored and crying after one week

I had my tvh one week ago tomorrow and I started getting very bored and emotional. I kept my ovaries but maybe they just are not working yet or something. I don't feel as well as I had hoped I would by now. I have tried to do some things but it only takes a minute of standing up and doing something before I get too weak and tired to finish. I can't stand this and it is making me cry thinking about how I am supposed to go the next five weeks with limited activities. Is this normal for me to feel this way?

bored and crying after one week

YES--or at least it was for me. I was a mess my first week out. O cried hysterically, thought my life would NEVER be the same, I regretted having the surgery, it wa san awful feeling. My daughter called my Dr. and they said it was post partum depression and very normal. They called me in Premarin and lexapro. I felt better the next day. I havent taken either med. yet, it was just a bad day. The Dr. said I would have several bad days, but luckily that TERRIBLE day was just one day!
You will feel better! Believe or not , you will! Hang in there.

Yes, it's normal. I kept ovaries too but have been emotional. Until last week the emotional was just crying for no good reason daily & having the blues/cabin fever. Then I started having mood swings. It's very frustrating & depressing being in pain & cooped up & unable to do things your brain wants to do. It will pass. Hang in there.

bored and crying after one week

Hi mjm33!

I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time emotionally. Those feelings are almost "universal" among newly post-op Hystersisters!

It's kind of strange how, when you're healthy, if someone were to tell you, "You need to lounge around or 6 weeks and be waited on hand and foot," you might reply..."Hooray! but when you are a recovering patient and have to do it, it seems like a torture!

Hang in there! The recovery period can be challenging, at times. I hope the upcoming weeks fly by and that you are soon back to your old routine and can put the entire "hysterectomy experience" behind you.

Many s and Best Wishes,

I read here that some doctors put you on the pill or something to keep everything regulated after a hysterectomy when you keep your ovaries. Mine didn't put me on anything. I wonder if my hormones are not right and I need to be on something? I also have been getting very hot and sweaty and can't seem to cool down. I didn't think this would happen to me since I kept my ovaries. I also asked my husband to take me to Home Depot today to get some things. He didn't think I was up to it but I said if I get too tired I will just go sit in the truck and wait. I think it might do some good to get out of the house. I haven't done anything with my hair or makeup in a week and this would give me an excuse to do something about that. I sure feel ugly right now!

(((BIG HUGS))) I felt just like you did at a week. COOPED UP!! I just wanted to get out of the house for a little bit. That did help me feel better. I also found that on days I got up and took a shower I felt better, even if that was ALL I could do for the day, LOL!! But if you feel like you need something for the depression, call your dr.

I hope you feel better soon!!!
