Took a bath on day 8 post op---is this a problem?

The doc told my DH that I needed to wait a week to take a bath. Yesterday, I took 2 because it helped relax my hips, thighs and back. I soaked for about 15 mins each time --- didn't use any soaps or anything. Then I've read several posts where you shouldn't take a bath for 6 weeks???

I'm hoping I haven't done something wong! Or to cause more harm. Having bad incontinence issues since yesterday morning.

Only your doctor knows based on what s/he's done when its OK to resume baths.If your doctor gave permission for baths after one week, by all means go ahead and take them!

I would call your doc as soon as the office is open & let the nurse know. The potential problem is having any bath water getting into your vagina & possibly leading to an awful infection. Definately do not take any more baths until you are given the ok by your doc.
Im sure it felt good to soak, but its a definate "no-no". You have made it this far in your recovery & it would be awful to cause a setback at this point.

Maybe your Dr thinks in your case baths are OK now. I'd call and double check, just because no bath for 6 wks seems more common. And of course if you feel any problems from your baths I'd report them, too. But if your Dr still says it's OK when you check, either he has a different view, or your situation may be different from the other ladies. Let us know what you find out.

My Dr told me I was OK to take baths once my external incisions had healed. I had my first (and only) bath at 2 weeks post op. I think you should call your Dr's office to double check.
