Anyone use pellets?

So my gyn won't do anything with my hormones for two more months. So I just need to be patient. She suggested doing the bioidentical pellets? Guess I need to do a search on those, I don't know anything about them!

Re: Vivelle mini dot question

OK I just watched a video showing how they put those pellets in. NO thanks!

Re: Vivelle mini dot question

I met a woman in the waiting room at my gyn's office who said that insertion of the pellets isn't as bad as it seems. She swears that it's the closest thing to having ovaries as they release hormones evenly over time with none of the ups and downs with other HRT (if you are really sensitive to that). My gyn won't consider doing it until a woman is at least 18 months out and has been steady on her hormone therapy for 6 months. That does make sense to me.

Re: Vivelle mini dot question

She gave me a pamphlet for bioTE, she told me to consider it but if I did decide to do it, I had to wait 2 months. It sounds like they're bioidentical based on blood work. How can they tell what the "optimum" levels of hormones are if you have no ovaries and are not producing your own hormones? I like the idea of only having to deal with it every 4-6 months but it still seems kind of scary.

Re: Vivelle mini dot question

I'm not sure about that, but it's a good question for your doc. My gyn seemed to indicate that she bases it on the levels that you have been maintaining and are comfortable on using other methods.

That makes sense and I am nowhere near that yet! Thank you!

Re: Anyone on bioTE bioidentical pellets?

Christine,

I agree with your doctor. You need to give your body a chance to recover from surgery and adjust to the ERT.

The biggest drawback I see with pellets is that once they are put in they are difficult to remove, so if you get too large of a dose you basically have to wait it out. they are not the best option, especially this early in the game.

Re: Anyone use pellets?

Kim, if I'm not feeling better by 6 weeks Is that adequate time to ask my doctor for an increase? I'm trying so hard to be patient but the anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, fatigue and depression have my entire life completely on hold; I can't even drive let alone work! I just want to be on the other side of this - it's been going on for so long! I was already pretty much in menopause before I had the ovary removed. I just want my life back!
