Police Officer

I am a police officer and am having LAVH next week. I have taken 2 full weeks off and then am planning on working "the desk" for the next 4 to 6 weeks. Is there other officers out there that can tell me long it took them before they were ready to put back on their duty belt and vest and hit the streets?

Re: Police Officer

Sister, I also work in the criminal justice field. I can tell you that if there is any way possible, take more time off. I am over 2 weeks post op and there is no way I could go back yet. We both know that there will be physical and emotional strain in just "sitting the desk" in our type of work. Take the time of take care of yourself!

Re: Police Officer

My surgery was not the same as yours, but I can tell you that going from being on my back to spending more time sitting up gave me quite a bit of muscle strain at first. If there is a way you could give yourself an extra week or 2 or put in 1/2 days at first, I do recommend it.
