Advice about going back to work

Hi girls
I had vaginal hysterectomy 2& half weeks ago, I am feeling pretty good still tired some days more than others, pain is minimal, however I do get quite a swollen tummy at the end of some days and some pain if I have been on my feet most of the day. My question is when I go back to work I have a very physical job where I do a lot of heavy lifting, how long realistically will it be till I will be able to do this work, does any one else have a similar job? I thought I would be able to return to work when I get the all clear from the Dr after six weeks but will it be on full duties by then?

Re: Advice about going back to work

Hi Hun. Only you and your doctor will know when you are healed enough to lift very heavy items If you are concerned about your job duties when it comes close to you returning to work then you need to discuss your fears with you doctor at your post op appts Hun. He may have you go back on light duty, or part time. But your doctor will have the final say if he feels you need more time Good luck Hun and happy recovery

Re: Advice about going back to work

Thanks for the reply Dawnsy
I guess I'm just trying to second guess what the Dr is going to say when I go back, I work in a family business & with my husband he is very supportive and is looking after me , but when I return to work I'm worried that if I go back to my usual lifting I might undo all the good work that's been done.
I will take my Dr' advice at the six week checkup.
