Finally done with pre-op

Don't know why but I've been dreading this and it was a breeze! Also had my consultation with my doctor and we did decide on going ahead and taking everything. He told me that he could make a recommendation but it was up to me for the final decision.......he said "you are the employer and I am the employee". Well, that's ONE way to put it.

I haven't met with the anesthesiologist yet though. Thought I would do that today but you have to have appointments for them. I meet him/her on the morning of my surgery.

Did learn that I have to have the bowel prep and I really knew that I would. I have to take a citrus prep about 6PM the day before and a fleet enema (UGH) about 10PM. HATE THAT ONE!!!!!!!!!!

One question, I've had nausea before after being put to sleep and I once I didn't. I mentioned it to the anesthesiologist last time (1996) when I had out-patient surgery and I believe he wrote something down about it but didn't tell me that he would do anything (I didn't know to ask then). I didn't get sick and wondered whether he did give me something or not. Does it make sense to tell him that I do get sick JUST IN CASE or is that a "no-no"? I definitely don't want to be throwing up after abdominal surgery.

The days are ticking down. I'm not TOO nervous yet and am keeping myself busy with grandchildren so maybe it won't be too bad. Am glad to have the uncertainties settled and questions answered finally.

Tell him, and remind him the day of the surgery. And remind your doc, and remind the nurses... You are right, you do NOT want to be vomitting! REMIND THEM ALL...
