Travel the day before surgery???

My husband's aunt is getting married - of course he really would like for us to be there since this is a happy occassion. His family lives across the country and we rarely see everyone at once, except at dreaded funerals. The wedding is on a Saturday and my surgery is scheduled for the following Monday, which is about all of the information I have. I finally called the doctor's office and asked if I needed to be seen before surgery and was told I could go in and talk to the doctor if I wanted - I have an appointment for the week before. Is it too much to think I can fly across the country the day before?

personally if there isnt any nmajor prep i dont see why not ... unless there is something that might keep you grounded like a medical problem
does the hospital have a call hotline where you can ask ? i hope you get it sorted out

I don't see why not either, you might not want to eat or drink a lot. If you have a bowel prep, you wouldn't need to do it until Sunday anyway. I'd ask the Dr. to be sure, but I would go if I were you. It could be one last hurrah until you recover!

it wouldnt matter unless you had to do the bowel prep and your flight was a late flight.

Bowel prep would be the only problem that I can see with traveling before hand.

My DH and I had a trip to Las Vegas planned before my surgery. We returned home two days before surgery. I did not have to do anything special prior to my surgery and my doc knew we were going. He told me I could go to Vegas but I wasn't allowed to gamble LOL. He also said to make sure I kept my hands clean, don't touch my face, etc. so that I didn't get sick. I made sure I took individually packaged antibacterial wipes and washed my hands very very frequently. It worked because I came home healthy and surgery went on as planned.
