5 days out and miserable

I had a vaginal hysterectomy (kept ovaries) and rectocele repair last Friday and was feeling okay until today. I'm having terrible cramps, upset stomach, and gloomy mood. Is this normal? I've been trying to decrease pain meds, but maybe I'm doing this too soon. Advice?

very normal. You are VERY early into your recovery and need to understand that "general" recovery is 6-8 weeks .. and you had double surgery. So give yourself time. Take your pain meds as needed, there is no need to suffer

I wasn't very hungry at all either. I was also feeling a bit down and have my moments.. I guess it all depends the circumstance. I would say if your in pain keep up with pain meds and rest.

I think you are right, Cheri. I decided to go back on regular pain medication cycle and call the doctor if I run out (which I think is my fear). It's amazing how much pain can negatively affect my mood.

pain meds absolutely sista and ice on your belly whenever needed.....ice is my new bff!!
