da Vinci scheduled for June 18

I have surgery scheduled for June 18th. I have fibroid tumors causing issues, so I am looking forward to the relief. I am curious as so how long before I will be up and around? Also, I have not told my 8 year old son yet so if there is any advice as to what to say to him regarding the surgery I would welcome it.

In order to answer your question it would be beneficial to know what type of surgery you are having? Is it abdominal or laproscopic? Total or supracervical? Presuming since it's for fibroids you are keeping your ovaries.

As for telling your 8 year old be as honest as you can that "mom is having surgery to making her feel better." That you'll need help after the surgery as you get better and that there are some things you won't be able to do right away like pick him up or do certain things around the house.

Other sisters may have some ideas as well.

One word of warning from one daVinci person to the next since you will have small incisions your first reaction will be that everything is okay so be careful about not overdoing it.
