week 5- incision hurts!

Can anyone help me? I saw my doctor 5 days ago for my 4-week post op check up. He said I have healed well and that I can gradually ease my way back into normal life. No restrictions, nothing. I just have to listen to my body and not push beyond what is comfortable.
I started doing my yoga (which is very gentle) 3 days ago. My incision has started hurting on the outside. It is a burning sensation. I visited my GP today and she said this happens.
Has anyone else gone through this?

Re: week 5- incision hurts!

Mine has been very tender, sometimes burning, sometimes feeling bruised.

It hasn't been a scary hurt so I figured something was just healing.

Re: week 5- incision hurts!

Did it suddenly start to hurt? I've been fine all along and suddenly now it feels sore and tender. I'm hoping it's just part of the healing process?
Thanks for your reply!

Re: week 5- incision hurts!

I went through that at about the same time in my recovery. It was a very weird sensation for me....it was burning, but yet, when I touched it, it was numb??? I called my doctor because I was sure I had hurt something. My explained that it had to do with the nerves healing in the abdomen.

It is all part of the healing process. It will pass soon.

Hi Traeleigh

I know exactly what you mean. Mine isn't numb when I touch it but it certainly hurts more when I'm not touching it!
That having been said, it feels so much better today.
Just slightly reddish. As you say, it's all part of the healing I guess... thank you!

Watch the redness....if it gets worse or is warm to the touch, you could have an infection going on....keep an eye on it.
