Vivelle Dot drop off
Hey,
I was put on vivelle dot two days, on a friday, post op of my TAH-BSO. I wasn't supposed to change my patch until tuesday but by monday night I was having horrible hot flashes, feelings of waves going through my body, and couldn't sleep for 36 hours. Once I changed my patch things started to get better albeit I needed sleeping pills to finally get to sleep.
I'm nervous that this will happen again before my next patch change is up.
Has anyone else had this experience and if so how did you handle it.
I have a post op appointment on Wed so I'll be able to ask all of my questions.
Thanks,
Yael

Re: Vivelle Dot drop off
Hello!
You're very early in recovery when it's normal to experience a whole range of symptoms, even when using hormone therapy. Your body is depleting the hormones made by your ovaries while adapting to your new hormone therapy. It takes time to reach optimal levels. You might want to keep a symptom journal which you can show to your doctor if you continue to have problems. Adjustments can be made, if necessary, based on any symptoms you have.
I have been using Vivelle Dot for years and really like it. I change mine every 3 1/2 days and wear it on my rear, where absorption is better.
Definitely discuss your concerns with your doctor. Let us know what s/he has to say.

Re: Vivelle Dot drop off
I was given the vivelle dot (.05) when I left the hospital three days post-op (6/6/12) but didn't use it until four weeks post-op (mon this week). I was very nauseated so my Dr decreased my dose to .375. Today is day two and so far I'm feeling ok. Im dealing with night sweats so I decided to go ahead and try the dot.

Re: Vivelle Dot drop off
I've been wearing mine on my abdomen because that's what the instructions say. I take it you noticed quite a difference by putting it "on back" or did someone tell you try it?

Re: Vivelle Dot drop off
Are you using alcohol to wipe are to clean oil on skin before applying? If not, that can help. The other thing to try is once your patch is securely in place, apply something called Tegaderm over the top. You can get it at most pharmacies in the would care section. When I used the patch, it helped immensely!
