Coping with pain

HELP!! My surgery is scheduled for Friday, March 29th. I have been on pain medicine for the past 8 months due to horrible pain I experience when I start and when I ovulate. I started again (2nd time this month) and I am in alot of pain as usual. My doctor doesn't want me to take any more of my pain medicine because he wants me to be free of pain meds for 2 weeks prior to surgery. He said that the pain meds after my surgery will not work as well since my body is so used to taking it for so long. He also told me not to take ibuprofen or aspirin as it may cause complications during/after surgery. That just about rules everything out. Can someone please give some advice on this subject? It sounds like you definitely need some relief! Did you Dr. give you any alternatives to ease the pain? If not, I'd ask him immediately. I'd keep asking until he finds something that works for you. It's the "squeaky wheel" with some Dr.s that gets their attention. (Nothing against your Dr. personally, though, he may just need a nudge.)

Maybe some warm blankets or cold packs on your tummy would help. There are also those self warming menstrual relief pads you can get over the counter now. Don't know if they'd make a dent in your pain, but you should ask your Dr. about them as well.
