sexual problems as well as nerve damage in my abdomen

I am having difficultly with orgasm as well as pain at the cuff. This is very frusterating duing the act. I also suffered nerve damage in my abdomen, (ultra sensation) the pain is from my belly button to my incision sight. I am being treated with medication for this. My Dr. has sense told me to get a life about my sexual problems. She says I am bazar because she has not seen this before. So I have trouble asking her anything. Has anyone else delt with nerve damage if so can it affect your sex life? I had a hyst because of endo cervical adednocarcinoma. I would rather not have had one but after much research I had no other option.

(((lilulu))), I am sorry that you are having so many problems. I've moved your post here to the Post-Op Hysterectomy forum so you can get some input from other recent post-op Sisters.

Please find a doctor who will work with you to help resolve these problems. Your doctor doesn't sound at all sympathetic but there are doctors who can help. I hope you can find the right one to help you!

sexual problems as well as nerve damage in my abdomen

HI!

I'm still too close in to my hyst and my tummy is still too sore to even consider things at this point. But I did want to post -- since you say you had endocervical adenocarcinoma did you have a radical hysterectomy? If so, nerve damage causing some sexual dysfunction is not an uncommon side effect -- doesn't happen to everyone but not uncommon either. (It can also happen with simple hysts too -- just more common with radicals). The good news from the couple of studies that I read is that a fair amount of the ladies improve over time. If you want to find more try googling radical hysterectomy and sexual dysfunction.

And do find a doctor that will listen to you -- I know when I brought up some sexual issues that I thought were hormonal a few years ago, my doc tried to tell me I was depressed and that so put me off I didn't pursue things further. I know that if I have issues now I am going to keep trying until I find a doctor that will work with me.

sexual problems as well as nerve damage in my abdomen

I am six months post op and still have pain that runs from my hips down the sides of my thighs to my knees. Just recently I've lost the ability to feel when I need to urinate! I hope it is just temporary due to some odd strain from intercourse last weekend. I see my gyn next week for this. I read that nerve damage is common. What a trip this is, eh. Good luck to you and all of us.
