Spasming Pelvic Floor Muscles

Hi girls,

I'm 4.5 months post op for TVH, TVT, A/P repair surgery.

Ever since the surgery, urgency has been a problem. Dr said to give it time to clear up.

2 weeks ago, I started having what I thought was urethra or bladder spasms, which led to urgency issues.
But, added to those urgency and frequency issues was the feeling that I needed to have sex or the sensation of an orgasm about to start. It was becoming unbearable to constantly be in that state. (I'm unmarried and do not have a man in my life right now, so there was no relief except manual which is not something I want to do all the time and the sensations would come right back. If there had been a man in my life, I'd have made him a happy or a very tired man with wanting sex that week!)

Uro-gyn taking my Dr's place, called in premarin cream. Then, she called in Detrol-LA after I told triage nurse I had to have something that would help.

Went to internist who did urine test and said I had a high count of bateria and put me on Cipro.

Barely any relief, but a little from the premarin cream, detrol, and cipro.

Saw my uro-gyn on Mon (May 1) and she said I have spasming pelvic floor muscles. She gave me flexeril to relax the muscles and said if this didn't work, then she'd send me for PT. The flexeril works when I can take it, which is mostly only at night and still feel hungover from it the next day. But, I think the flexeril is counteracting my anti-depressant. Sitting in front of computer seems to make the spasming come back a little, but not as bad as before.

I read on other strings where some are going for pelvic floor muscle PT and that kegels are part of the exercises to do at home. I was wondering if I should be contracting kegels if the muscles are spasming, but I guess that is part of the PT.

Anyone else had the spasming pelvic floor muscles and the awful urgency sensations and vaginal sensations?

Thanks for any input on similar experiences.

I forgot to say that I am going back in surgery on May 19th to fix a prolapsed posterior repair.... actually worse now than before surgery since the rectocele is prolapsed to outside of vagina when sitting. I am wishing I'd never had any repairs done in that area!

Spasming Pelvic Floor Muscles

Hi,

I had a TVH and rectocele repair 3 years ago and it has helped me. The recovery from it is uncomfortable , but once it was over I have been fine.

I have urgency issues, but not bad, and had this prior to hyst, but dr said not bad enough to repair, so we did not do it. I do find the estrogen cream to help some, but too much can make it worse too. I am not sure why that is.

I have been doing the kegels trying to see if this will help me, but have not done them long enough to know yet. I am not consistent on doing them and forget most of the time.

I hope things get better for you soon. It may take time to see some results with all the treatments and meds.

You might check over in the Bladder Matters forum if you think you have uro issues. I believe there are others who have similar problems.
