Hysterectomy yesterday 4/4: Problems with my catheter.

I had a a complete hysterectomy, anterior and posterior repair and a urethral sling. I was able to void twice but an ultrasound showed that I hadn't emptied my bladder completely. I went home with a giant catheter and have been having this horrible burning and pulling sensation, when I got into the shower I had an i intense urge to pee, so I tried. And the urine went down my leg instead of in to the bag. Im freaking out a little.Has anyone had something like this happen? The Dr. Hasn't called me back yet. What do I do?

I don't have any personal experience with a Foley catheter at home (mine was removed in the middle of the night at the hospital - I had an intense urge). A quick search here lead me to an older thread where a Sister encountered leakage issues with hers along with urination urges. Our bladders can spasm after surgery due to the trauma of surgery and that could cause some of the leaking around the "balloon" of the catheter. In your situation, between the burning, pulling sensations and leaking, I wonder if there's something up with the catheter itself? Having it changed out might be an option.
